Get Calm The Ayurvedic Way With Ashwagandha

by BODY COMPLETE RX

Herbal remedies like Ashwagandha, have been used for 60,000 years. And there’s a reason we’re still using plants like Ashwagandha– they’re effective!

What's A Nootropic?

Ashwagandha is a nootropic, or cognitive enhancer. (Caffeine is the most commonly known nootropic.) Nootropics act by improving either “creativity, motivation, memory, and/ or attention.” And let us be honest with ourselves, it is mostly the moments when we aren’t focused or motivated that the jitters set in. Usually, all we needed was renewed focus, to shake off those jitters and find our inner-calm again.

We use ashwagandha powder in our Vegan CALM Capsules for this very reason.  By combining ashwagandha with valerian root CALM helps you to de-stress body and mind. Plus we added melatonin to the formula, to help you fall asleep easily and naturally.

Ashwagandha Is Backed By Science

Ashwagandha will help you kick the stress, and is backed by both science and Ayurvedic medicine. What might have been tribal medicine 60,000 years ago, is medically studied today because of its effectiveness.

One study found that an Ashwagandha treatment program could significantly increase GABA levels in the brain. GABA or Gamma-aminobutyric acid comes in handy if your nervous system is feeling a little overwhelmed. Increasing the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA signals your brain to “decrease activity in your nervous system.”

GABA Inhibits Stress?

Stressful emotions can cause your brain to overwhelm your nervous systems with stress-related chemicals like adrenaline and cortisol. So in cases like this, you’ll want GABA to inhibit (or decrease) the amount of activity in your nervous system. Essentially ashwagandha is going to calm you down.

Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic medicine.  Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine dating back some 3,000 years ago in India. In India, with five years of study you can actually, secure a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. But you’ll also have to complete a year-long internship. It’s a serious field-of-study and sought out by many as a serious means of health-care.

Rejuvenate With Ashwagandha

In Ayurvedic medicine, ashwagandha is considered a rejuvenating herb, or a Rasayana, that invigorates the body. By compounding terminologies like Rasayana (rejuvenator) and Nootropics (cognitive enhancers), you begin to see how the benefits of ashwagandha haven’t been overlooked by many cultures, at all.

The powder dried from the root of the ashwagandha plant works numerous wonders. Classified as an adaptogen (stress-zappers), the root can increase your perceived quality of life by helping you stay in homeostasis, or emotionally balanced. After all, that's what adaptogens do, they work to counteract neurological, endocrine, and immune systems stress and balance you out. And the root powder has another fun application...it increases sexual libido and testosterone.

Basically, ashwagandha has a lot of calm going for it! It’s kind of why we made it the not-so-secret sauce for our CALM Relaxation Capsules.) Be sure to check them out if you need a plant-based, soy-free,  GMP certified, Made in USA option to start this new year off CALM.
